In a dry, IL round bottom flask 845 ml of methanol was taken. Further the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 15-30 min, then refluxed the reaction mixture for 4-5 hrs. The reaction mixture was cooled, dumped into cold water and adjusted to pH-2 using hydrochloric acid. The solid obtained was filtered off, washed with water till neutral, suck dried to obtain 4,6- dihydroxy-5-(2-methoxy phenoxy)[2, 2′]bipyrimidine
