The reaction mixture was stirred at 0C for 2 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with cold water (1000 mL) and stirred for 30 minutes. The precipitated solid was filtered and dried under suction to afford the title compound tert-butyl 5-bromo-4-oxo-3H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine- 7(4H)-carboxylate as off white solid (8.1 g, crude). Calculated (M+H): 314.1; Found (M+H): 314.0.
